Niacinamide: What It Does & Why We Love It
At Future Face Clinics, Birkdale, Niacinamide is one of our go-to ingredients when clients want skin that’s stronger, calmer, and more even in tone. It’s versatile, effective, and well tolerated, ideal in our Queensland environment where sun, humidity, and exposure can throw skin off balance.
What is Niacinamide?
Niacinamide (a form of Vitamin B3) is a water-soluble nutrient that works well in many skincare formulas. It’s known for being gentle and multi-tasking, helping with everything from moisture retention to reducing shine, without the harshness of some stronger actives.
How Niacinamide Benefits Skin
Niacinamide offers several skin perks, especially for clients in the Redlands:
Barrier support: Helps boost ceramide levels and strengthen the lipid barrier, which protects skin from irritation, pollution, and water loss.
Oil control & congestion: Balances excess sebum production, helping reduce oily patches and breakouts.
Even skin tone & brightening: Fades dark spots, post-acne marks and sunspots, making skin look more luminous over time.
Soothing and anti-redness: Helps calm skin irritation and sensitivity, great after sun exposure or mini trauma (sun, wind).
Hydration & plumpness: Reduces moisture loss, so skin looks smoother and more dewy.
Fine line & wrinkle improvement: Supports collagen health indirectly, reducing the look of lines particularly where dryness makes them worse.
How and When to Use Niacinamide
To get good results, here’s what we recommend at Future Face Clinics:
Use morning or night as part of your skincare routine (after cleansing, before heavier creams).
Combine with hydrating agents like hyaluronic acid (We recommend the Mesoestetic HA Densimatrix), or barrier-supporting ingredients (We recommend the Mesoestetic aox Ferulic).
You can use it with retinols or acids, but avoid pairing high-strength direct Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) with niacinamide in the same routine used at the same time, it’s better to alternate or separate AM/PM.
Be consistent. Visible benefits (tone, texture, calm) may start in a few weeks, but lasting change (spots fading, smoother skin) often takes 4-8 weeks or more.
One of our favourite ways to incorporate Niacinamide into clinic treatments is through the Préime DermaFacial. Using the AquaB technology, Niacinamide-infused solutions are delivered into the skin while deeply cleansing and refining the complexion at the same time.
Age Element Brightening Cream and the Pollution Defence Ampoules are the perfect pair for delivering Niacinamide into your skincare routine. Ask us us how, the nest time you’re in for a treatment.
Which Formulas We Use at Future Face Clinics
We choose niacinamide formulas based on your skin’s needs:
Mild concentrations (2-5%) for sensitive or barrier-compromised skin.
Moderate to higher concentrations (8-10%) plus balancing ingredients (e.g. zinc) for oily, congested, or breakout-prone skin.
Lightweight emulsions or serums for humid weather; richer creams/emollients in dryer seasons or for mature skin.
Tips & Safety Notes
We always patch test first with any new product.
Don’t expect overnight results, Niacinamide works gradually.
Keep using sunscreen, brightening agents like niacinamide help, but sun can undo progress. Check out our full range of Mesoestetic Mesoprotech and Airy Day range, in clinic.
If combining with strong actives (strong acids, retinoids), start slowly and monitor for irritation.
If you'd like to see if niacinamide suits your skin, especially for concerns like dark spots, oil, or sensitivity, come into Future Face Clinics, Birkdale for a skin assessment. We’ll look at your skin type, environment, lifestyle, and map out a plan with niacinamide (and whatever else your skin needs) so you get the best results.
